Our Experience With First Day Vitamins

We were struggling with behavior problems with our oldest and knew that getting him the right vitamins and minerals would help. We spent a lot of time researching as we are sure you have!

A few aspects of these vitamins that appealed to us were the fact that they had minimal added sugar content compared to most over-the-counter children’s vitamins, especially when it comes to gummy vitamins. We also really liked the fact that these vitamins did not contain any artificial dyes. According to the National Library of Medicine, there have been a handful of studies conducted that seemed to draw a correlation between artificial dyes and children’s behaviors.

We were ready to try anything to help the behavior of one child in particular. We subscribed to these vitamins and tried to eliminate other artificial dyes in our children’s diets. We don’t believe it was just a coincidence, but feel this did help in our journey to bring more peace to our home!

We truly believe that the right nutrition can help all aspects of health including physical, mental, and emotional! We are grateful for these vitamins as they have helped supplement what our children are lacking in their extremely picky eater diets!

Why are Multivitamins Important for kids?

Multivitamins for children play a crucial role in promoting optimal growth and development, as well as safeguarding against potential nutrient deficiencies. Here are some key reasons to consider giving your children a multivitamin:

Benefit #1: Nutrient Gaps

Children often have erratic eating habits and may not consume a daily well-balanced diet. Research shows that many children fail to meet the recommended daily intake of essential nutrients, such as vitamins D, E, and K, calcium, and iron.

Benefit #2: Growth and Development

Multivitamins are formulated to bridge these nutrient gaps, providing the necessary vitamins and minerals vital for proper growth, bone development, and overall health. For instance, vitamin D aids in calcium absorption, crucial for strong bones, while iron supports healthy blood development.

Benefit #3: Cognitive Function

Adequate intake of vitamins like B-complex vitamins, particularly B6, B9 (folate), and B12, is associated with improved cognitive function, memory, and concentration in children. These vitamins are essential for brain development and function.

Benefit #4: Immune Support

Vitamins such as vitamin C and zinc, found in multivitamins, are known to enhance immune function. Statistically, children who regularly take multivitamins tend to experience fewer sick days and milder illness symptoms.

Benefit #5: Prevention of Nutrient Deficiencies

Research indicates that multivitamin supplementation can effectively prevent nutrient deficiencies in children. For instance, iron deficiency is a common concern, particularly among young children, and multivitamins with iron can help address this issue.

Benefit #6: Dental Health

Minimal added sugars are beneficial for dental health, as it helps reduce the risk of cavities.

Other Benefits

According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), approximately 31% of children in the United States have inadequate vitamin D levels, highlighting the need for supplementation, especially in regions with limited sun exposure.

A study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association found that over 90% of children aged 2-8 years fail to meet the recommended daily intake for vitamin D and vitamin E.

Multivitamins for children serve as a valuable nutritional safety net to address nutrient gaps, support growth and development, enhance cognitive function, bolster the immune system, and prevent common nutrient deficiencies. However, parents need to consult with healthcare professionals to determine the specific needs of their children and ensure safe and appropriate supplementation.
